Parkside Vicerons Place | Bishop's Stortford 2001 - 2005
A competition winning design for a Flexicare facility for older persons. The brief required an innovative approach to homes for life for older persons.

Kyle Smart Associates Limited designed the whole project based on internal streets to avoid an institutional feel, creating rest points within the streets by introducing reminiscing and internet rooms, or merely to provide a view out over the adjacent park. Accommodation is in the form of flats which can be easily altered to provide a separate live in carer if required, without the need to move properties.

Residents can choose the exact package of care required, ranging from none to total care, and the layouts allow for this. Residents do not need to move out of the flats because they are no longer suitable for their needs: the care package is simply altered along with their flat layout.

Parkside was carried out as a PPC 2000 contract with a major RSL and Contractor, providing Architect services from inception through to completion, with the property opening in Summer 2005
