The project achieved a Planning Consent in early 2007 and the first phase of the works, involving the extension and reorganisation of the presbytery and parish offices was completed in 2008.
Working closely with the Diocese and the local Parish, the second phase of the scheme provides a large modern community hall to replace their current ageing facilities which have previously been housed in two separate buildings. The scheme involved the demolition of the existing halls to allow for the construction of the new building and landscaped parking facilities.
The design of the hall draws reference from the detailing of the existing
RC church dating from 1931 but also uses a modern palette of materials for the new link block between the hall and the church. The new hall provides a large main hall with
WC provisions, a large semi-domestic kitchen with a large meeting room, and a variety of storage areas to meet the requirements of the many different uses for the hall. Remodelling of existing back of house rooms will also provide the church with a quiet room for children and a new sacristy for the parish priest.
