Forming part of a much larger overall redevelopment, these buildings were proposed to replace the existing ageing and outdated Care Home facilities already contained on the site. The scheme would be a phased development, with the existing care provision remaining operational until the replacement buildings are completed.

The design has been influenced by a series of consultations with the Home Manager, staff and residents.

The proposals for a major RSL working in Partnership with the Health Authority and County Council stakeholders would be spread over three storeys and would provide modern self-sufficient flats for independent living grouped together in units of four that share common areas and facilities as if a family unit. Staffed areas are proposed on each floor with additional facilities such as a large common room and double height wintergarden on the ground floor, staff offices on the first floor and treatment rooms on the upper floor.
