Bircherley Court is an existing sheltered housing scheme constructed in the early 1970's and located in a prominent town centre location. Kyle Smart Associates Limited have been involved with the scheme from the early feasibilities and have worked closely with an RSL, the staff and the residents of this elderly care home with intention to upgrade existing flats and common parts to lifetime homes standards, while also introducing a new Community hub for use by both residents and the wider community.
 
The redevelopment of Bircherley Court is an integral part of the RSL's Older People Strategy with the intention that the redevelopment will be recognised as the leading older person's assisted independent living scheme in the region.
 
The scheme achieved Planning in September 2008 and the first phase of the works has now started on site in March 2009. The full scheme, consisting of the refurbished existing flats, four new flats and the new community link block is due for completion late 2011.
