The scheme, for Noth Hertfordshire Homes and Stevenage Borough Council, consists of a new hostel for homeless people, with associated facilities and refurbishment and coversion of the existing building to moving on flats and office accommodation.

All the new buildings follow a modern design approach to reflect the site context of being halfway between the new and old town centres.  Although each new building use a similar palette of materials to bring a consistent and coherent approach to the scheme, subtle variations in their forms distinguish the building types.

The new flats and hostel have been orientated to provide good natural surveillance of the surrounding areas, introducing large glazed openings that will allow the dwelling to benefit from passive solar gain.
