The scheme seeks to improve accessibility and enhance the facilities provided at the church as part of a long term enhancement strategy for the facilities provided by the church. It includes proposals to remodel the approaches to the building, providing step free access and incorporates a new lift to provide access to the existing crypt.
The crypt was reorganised to provide a modern multgi function space offering as much flexibility as possible, so that different groups of people can use it at the same time but which can be secured in increasingly small areas if required. New meeting rooms, acoustic screens, support facilities, storage and lighting would be improved.
In the main hall of the church refurbishment work proposals include new floor finishes, renovation of existing stonework, new interior paint finishes and colour, new entrance doors and some reorganisation of the fixed furniture.
Since the completion of the work, the church has been granted grade 11 listed building status.
